Rikke Blessing is a PMA® Certified Pilates Teacher and a Pre- and Post-Natal Pilates Specialist™. Rikke is also a licensed acupuncturist with more than a decade of experience in the areas of womenʼs health, sports medicine, and preventive care. She views exercise as an important physical component of preventive medicine and Pilates as an ideal form of movement during pregnancy. Rikkeʼs Pilates classes are strongly influenced by her years of successfully helping patients with pregnancy, fertility, sports injuries, emotional health, and rehabilitation. Rikke emphasizes safety and correct alignment, while creating challenging, individualized Pilates sessions. By incorporating her medical expertise and in-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology, Rikke brings uniquely personalized Pilates classes to Monterey.

I am 5 months pregnant and have been working with Rikke Blessing in her prenatal Pilates class. I can not say enough about how wonderful the instructor has been during this period of bodily transition. I am a heavier set woman and was intimidated at first to do what I thought was an exercise for more slender, fit women. I was wrong, and Rikke was so great in showing me the way. Over the past few weeks I have seen a huge increase in flexibility, which will be such an asset for birthing, as well as an increase in strength all over my body. No matter how tired I am when I show up to class, I leave feeling completely energized and ready for the rest of my day. Rikke does an amazing job targeting each individual's desired areas of improvement, while preparing every woman's body in ways essential for birthing. These classes will be a great addition to any woman's prenatal preparation, and postnatal recovery.
I have being doing Pilates for over 10 years and when I became pregnant my Pilates and ab workouts ground to a halt. I was worried about laying on my back for too long and over-stressing my uterus and ever changing abdominal muscles. Rikke Blessing now offers Pilates for new Moms and Moms-to-be; carefully guided classes keeping in mind your changing body but also meeting the need to keep those abs strong and joints flexible for a successful labor. Not only is it useful, it's fun! I plan to continue going to Pregnancy Pilates up until my due date and resume again as soon as possible after birth to start getting my body back.
